I don’t make New Year’s resolutions. I don’t like telling myself that the next year will be different because an arbitrary date passed–I like deciding that I’m going to make a change, and making that change for myself. Why limit yourself to a single day of the year to make changes? Humans are dynamic creatures with ever-changing needs, and we should alter ourselves to reflect our needs.
Switching calendars from one year to the next won’t give you the will power to lose 10 pounds; your dedication to lose ten pounds will do that. And if you only commit to self-improvement once a year, you risk lying stagnant while the world changes all around you.
People are dynamic, wonderful creatures. We need to treat ourselves as such, and realize that no one is too old to grow up just a little bit more. Or too old to play in the mud, for that matter!
